Math-Volume and Temperature

Temperature

With Nicole I have been learning about temperature. I thought that i was good at it but it turns out I need a little work on it. I learnt a lot of different techniques. I love certain types of math and temperature is one of them, I got the questions easily after that. We got a couple of follow ups and i got them very easily. I think I have aced temperature.

 Volume

Volume is the one I had no idea about and I thought it would be really hard. Turns out that it isent that hard to do. I got it as quickly as I got other things. I think that volume is easy now I know it.

Can you work out temperature and volume?

Persuasive argument: Baking Night

Dear Mum,

I strongly believe that our family should have a baking night every 2nd week, where we will learn new recipe. It will bring our family together, we can bake new things and we can all be better friends.

Firstly it will bring our family together. Spending more family time is vital for a child. If we all know how to bake then we can all enjoy it together. Also when it becomes someone's birthday can each others cake’s! If Eve knew how to bake then we could bake things with each other and she could read the recipes and be more involved. It will let us work together. We will be a beautiful,baking family.

Secondly we can bake new things. I am dying to learn new recipes as I have had no time to learn new ones. Aren't you getting a bit bored with me making the same things over and over? If we bake together we can all learn new things. After I learn new things we can teach others our techniques we learnt. Bake someone happy! (make someone happy).

I’m absolutely certain we can all become better friends. We will have fun and we will all be nice to each other. Furthermore if we do this we can do similar things as well. Together we can build better relationships, and if we have a better relationship we will want to spend more time together. Baking is fun, interesting and enjoyable and it will be even better with family. I am desperate to have a bright, baking buddy that can bake with me!

Therefore I strongly believe a baking day would be a great family bonding time. I hope you encourage this idea, because I think this would bring us together,we can make new things and we will become better friends.

I think we all need more time together, and we will always look back on the good times we had with each other.

Immersion With Felicity

Immersion

29/5/17

Today in immersion we learnt a lot of interesting ways plants grow and what plants need to survive. We also learnt types of Non interactive animals. Our group will be setting up a fair test to germinate a seed. We will be using a paper towel,a cup,a seed,water and will be changing one thing that the plant needs. In my fair test i will be changing the amount of air that goes into the plant by flooding it with water but to make sure it's fair we will make sure we don’t add too much water. If we added too much it would not be a fair test as we would be changing two things. Tomorrow we will be planting our plants.

Its Tuesday today and we have planted our plants and I was buddied up with Siobhan. We changed air so we added lots of water to submerge our seed. It looked very drowned and I don’t think it will live long. I did my whole follow up while waiting for next block. I hope our seeds make progress so we can track its growth. My prediction- Our experimental seed will last 1 week and then start going brown. It might die.

Felicity was away today and we had immersion with Trudy. This morning we checked our plant and it had not make any progress. For immersion we learnt about food chains and food webs.This is one of my food chains: Algae , Salmon , King fish , Seal , Shark. Today I think our plant got a good amount of water and it will live a little longer. The seed is expanding in the water.

Today Felicity is back and when we got to school our plant still was flooded. We still had to water it at 10. When we did the cup was almost full to the top. Now I am unsure if we are changing 1 thing or not. It seemed like we needed to pour out some water but we have to do the same amount every day at the same time. Unlike our experiment one our normal one looks-well-normal! We were continuing our lesson on food chains then we did some work on photosynthesis and how it works. We had a interesting conversation about whether plants are better than meat. Apparently it is.We also watched a very Interesting video. It was-Weird but tout me something. I would have stayed longer but I had buddy reading. Our plant is doing well.

We had STEM today because it was Friday. It meant no immersion. When we saw our plants they were flooded and we forgot to water them.

Felicity read us a story and we had to take notes. Our note s were about what environmental issues are in the book.

We were learning about the pollution and the effects of it When I got to school in the morning and it was still full of water and we hadn't watered it for 4 days! I was a bit worried it was mouldy but so was everyone else's.
My prediction is that our plant will die very soon.

My friends and I came late to immersion as we had to go to a very important meeting. We came to a huge follow up to do as a group. We started yet it was time to pack up soon after.

We continued our set task in my group which includes Awetea, Siobhan, Rhiannon and I.
I feel we are a great team and got it done in no time. We had to construct a food web and our group all contributed in different thing that got our job done faster. We watched a video about wolves that was interesting and helped us realize what action is going on. We also started story called theirs a hair in my dirt. We had no time to finish it so we all agreed that we would read it later. We watered our plant late today. It's to early to see whether it will die or not.
   

              

              

Bullying prevention project

In my project we were trying to decrease the amount of bullying,so we decided to create a short film. I enjoyed filming and can be worse than i thought. I did find filming  bit difficult because we had to re film the scenes a lot. I learnt that bullying can be worse than I thought. I read some really full on stories and now know that we REALLY need to stop bullying. Our how might we was:How might we Prevent bullying for hobsonville point community in order to keep everyone safe and happy.  I believe our group worked really well together on research and the script. I loved our group. We could have changed the way we filmed as we could not hear what the people were saying in some scenes. We also could have worked on not arguing. I feel changed in a way feeling how badly other people are being treated. I am lucky. I wish we had a really good filmier. Other people thought that our movie was funny and good. The feedback was all similar, and it said we could film it louder

Our project was a success!                                                                                    

Blog post: project learning story

Throughout the week in project I learnt something about bullying that I didn't  know before. Siobhan,Anjani and I had to read some stories about bullying as our project was to decrease bullying. Some of those stories were heartbreaking and I realized that bullying can be much worse than I thought. It was a variety of ages ranging between 2-18 and I realize I am very lucky. Most of the bullying leads to unpleasant things and it not only Affects the victim but it also affects the family. I believe we need to take quick action. This is a problem that needs to stop. How would you feel if you were being treated really badly. This project was very inspiring. I wish I had found this out earlier so I could do it for my project. I hope you all agree and want to take action as well. These things can lead to death so we need to prevent this.
