My Explanation

This is my explanation. I feel that I needed to improve. Hope you like it!

Why energy is important in everyday lives of people
Without energy we would not be able to do lots of things. Energy powers the universe. It can come in lots of forms such as Gravitational, Chemical, Nuclear, Elastic, Motion, Thermal,Potential,  Temperature energy. You need energy to move and use lots of devices. Some of these are appliances that we need to survive like food. We need energy. We use movement food and transportation.

Movement is a key part of our lives, and without it we would find it so hard to move at all. You would not be able to move without any energy. Infact if humans were to run on batteries an average adult would run on a 1 ton battery. Taking away all of that energy would result in you collapse because you would have no power to keep you moving. Almost everyday we use enough energy to power a microwave. We can produce 100 watts of energy with a good sleep. In fact if you stop moving for a certain period of time It's like telling your body to prepare for death. Movement is something we use in our everyday lives. Without it we wouldn't be able to get things like food that we need to survive.

We need food and water to survive. Food contains lots of energy and vitamins in which we need to survive. Fruit and vegetables also need the sun which is partly made of energy and without the sun food won’t grow properly. If we had no food we would only last 3 weeks. Water has 2 types of energy;kinetic energy. It can also have potential energy in so water -if it even existed- it would be scarce. You would have to travel to find food and where you somehow can grow food and find water.

Transportation is used by everyone a lot more than we use our legs. The US uses 28% of their energy for transportation methods.  Pretty much everything these days runs on energy and we would all be lost without anything to travel with. Travel is something whether it's walking or using a car to travel places and I would be hard to visit family with no transportation methods. For travel we need to walk more because it will stop us from using too much energy. Imagine there was no cars, Planes, trains eta. You live in America and your closest family member lived in New Zealand. How would you visit that person? We count on travel everyday.

Energy is used by almost everyone and we always use it. The key parts of life need energy like transport, movement and food/water. We all would hate it without it.Energy is a main part of life.

Netball Training

On Wednesday we have netball training and first we did a very tiring drill. They gave us instructions to follow. For example instructions 1 was to touch all 4 fences and touch 2 yellow and 2 blue lines. I thought that the first  one was enough but we had to do a second one.

  1. Do high knees
  2. Touch 2 fences
  3. Do butt flicks
  4.  Touch 1 yellow line
  5. Do grapevines
  6. Touch the netball post
  7. SPRINT TO THE CIRCLE
We played a game that Isla chose. It was fun but it could use more practice at it. Then we played Julia's prepared game. First we got into groups of 5 chose a shooter, 2 attacker and 2 defenders. The attackers were 1 team and defenders were another. The shooter was on both teams. I was a defender with Lola against Isla and Cate. Our shooter was Ameliya and Lola and I won by 3 points. We did a similar game after, We were in groups of whether your a shooter or a defense. I'm both but I went shooter. We had to have 2 feeders and 2 shooters but since there were 5 of us we had a defense as well. The feeders had to pass to the shooters and shoot. The defender had to defend. This went on for a while till we moved on to the next game of Isla's-Numbers. Everyone has a number and when your number was called you run out and play a game of netball. It took us a while to get the hang of it but Pointy (our team) won by 2 points. That was the end of the training and we gave feedback and most of it was similar. A full game of netball. We said by and that was a pretty succeeding netball training

Langauges

We had to have a topic to present to the whole class. Rhiannon and I are cooperating on a fashion presentation. We have made a slide on it:
I believe that our slide is going well and we have yet to add to it.

Energy follow up

For the energy immersion we had to fill out this slide. This is my work.

Amy immersion

27/6/17
Today we had to do a bit of math for this activity (thankfully we could use a calculator) We were learning about potential energy and kinetic energy. We were doing the swinging pendulum. So we had to get string and set up an experiment. We used a glue stick ( we were using that as the pendulum)we tied that onto the string and then we had to pack up. We will do the actual one tomorrow. I can't wait!

Last term Immersion

Fair Trade
Last term we were getting ready for projects. The first immersion group was fair trade with Felicity and we were learning about chocolate. At first I  thought it would only be how to make chocolate. But it was a really heartbreaking and fair trade is an important thing. The people that grow the cocoa beans need to fight for their right. The money they get no money compered to us. Without them we get no chocolate. So please buy fair trade. This is the logo:

There are lots of brands of fair trade. You should try to buy that chocolate.
Fashion Revaluation
My 2nd immersion was fashion revaluation. We were told to bring clothing in and answer some questions. Here are my answers:

(sorry if its hard to read)

Cotton
Next we did a very interesting one. I found it quite short but the most interesting part was the follow up.  What types of food have cotton in them? This was a slide I made because it was such an interesting subject.

Fraction/Ratios

Last term we did lots of work on fractions and ratios. For this particular maths I was in felicity's hedwigs. I felt at the start I was stronger in fractions as at my old school we started doing a bit of work on them. First we learnt how to plus and times  them together, but we all got that pretty quickly. Then we moved on to ordering them. I got a bit confused about that a couple of times. In the end I got it. My favorite thing we did was where we had to go: 1/3 of 30 is...10. But we did it a bit more complicated. Felicity made a game of it to. Me and Amy challenged each other a lot.Ratios for me were a harder and more complicated. we had questions like this at first. 1.20 + 4.9=

literacy-information report persuasive writing

I was in Hogwarts literacy and last term we were focusing on persuasive writing and first we had to work out what we were going to argue and i decided that I wanted to have a baking night. So that was my subject: To persuade my parents to have a baking night every 2nd week.
First I did my draft introduction and the didn't take long to write. So I moved on to my next paragraph. Why would I need a baking night? It would bring our family together! I did a similar thinking process to come up with the other ideas...
1. It would bring our family together
2. We can bake new things
3. We can all have a go at baking

Then I had to start on my conclusion and it didn't take long. My finished product was quite good. But that wasn't the end yet. We had to go though the pert paper process: Link to Pert Paper. After editing I checked with Felicity and she said that it was great and just to change a few things and then I could send it. I found this was a fun and I even got what I asked for!

Nicole immersion

13/6/17
Kothar ran Nicole workshop and we learnt about lots of things. Like atoms and how close they are. We also learnt about  matter which concedes of  liquid, solid and gas. All of us guessed how close the atoms were together. Ice for solid, Liquid was water and gas was steam.

19/6/17
We were working on examining candles and the differences it makes every minute. Our one even made a big hoop around the candle! I was glad when we got to do a test for ourselves.
Question: Will the amount of oxygen change the amount of burn time?
My hypothesis:I think that the amount of oxygen will change the burn time because fire needs oxygen to be lit. I was please to realize my hypothesis was right! I liked immersion today especially.

School Leader 7/6/17

Today was so exciting. All those who signed up to be a school leader were called to the portal and we waited nervously for Daniel to arrive. Rhiannon and I chatted about normal things despite the announcement that awaited us. At last we waited no longer, as Daniel and Amy had arrived. He spoke words of wisdom and I relaxed a little bit. Then the moment arrived. Martina , Awetea , Leilani , Julia , Grace R , LJ, Harrison and Maya C! I was over the moon. I stood up to accept my badge and stood proudly. Daniel had a little chat to those whos names were listed and he told us not to loose the badges(they were $13!)  My anxiousness turned to excitement and I knew I had a fun yet challenging task ahead of me. I feel really happy that I have been given this opportunity.

Passion Project

I have 2 passion projects at the moment. I am even starting a new one about starting one about a Talent show.
